My all time favorite movie is “The Princess Bride.”
This movie has played so many times in my home over the years that I have most of the lines memorized. I love the movie because it always makes me laugh. The character Vizzini, who is the mastermind in kidnapping the princess, says, “Its inconceivable!” several times after what he thinks is impossible keeps happening. Finally, Inigo Montoya tells him, “You keep using that word. I don’t think it means what you think it means.” Many of you may have thought it was inconceivable that you would be learning math and solving equations. However, here you are. You are more than half way through this course solving complex linear equations. This week you will be solving another variety of complex linear equations and it’s not inconceivable that you can be successful at this too! Take your time, watch the videos, and practice. You can do it!
Here is an additional tutorial to watch to help you with solving percent problems. You basically translate English to math and solve.
If you need additional practice beyond what is in the textbook, print off the following worksheet & answer key: Practice with Percents Worksheet.
Here is an additional tutorial to watch to help you solve equations with fractions. I have a feeling that your love of fractions may not extend to equations yet.
If you need additional practice beyond what is in the textbook, print off the following worksheets & answer keys: Solve Equation with Decimals Extra Practice Worksheet and Solve Equation with Fractions Extra Practice Worksheet.
